First Appointment Information

Melbourne Paediatric and Allergy Centre

  • Complete the Patient Registration Form online. Once you have a confirmed appointment, you will receive the password to access this form.
  • Bring your doctor’s referral letter *.
  • Bring your Medicare card
  • Bring your child's health centre record
  • Please bring previous test results or photos of any reactions
Allergy patients: Do not give your child any antihistamine medication for at least 4 days before the appointment. (Zyrtec, Demazin, Dimetapp, Claratyne, Telfast etc.)

Please continue eczema ointments, other than on the day of the appointment.

Please continue all regular asthma treatment.

Most appointments will commence with a full history taken of your child’s condition. An allergy test (skin prick test) may then be indicated. The test will be completed prior to the end of your consultation, followed by a full interpretation and explanation of results. A management plan will then be discussed.

We understand that you may have something urgent come up, which means that you cannot attend the appointment. If this is the case, please contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time so that your slot may be used by another patient who may be waiting for an appointment.

We accept credit cards (VISA/Mastercard), EFTPOS or cash. A Medicare rebate is payable back to you if you have a valid referral. If you have reached the safety net, you will be eligible for an additional rebate (up to 80% of the consultation fee). We have facilities for online Medicare payment to directly deposit your rebate into your nominated bank account. This normally occurs in 48-72 hours.

Information about doctor's referrals

  • Referrals are essential when seeing a specialist so that you receive the correct Medicare rebate.
  • A new referral is required for a new problem.
  • A referral from a GP is valid for 12 months.
  • PLEASE NOTE that a referral from one specialist to another is only valid for 3 months.
  • A letter is routinely sent to the referring doctor. If the referral was not from your usual doctor and you would like them to receive a copy of the letter, please let Dr Pinczower know.
